General Information of Interest to Single
Parents:
|
|
In
general, the amount of information for and
about single fathers is years behind information
designed for women. What is available is
typically focused on divorced fathers and
is not adoption focused. We have listed
here, some of the best resources currently
available for dads. As the Internet grows,
we expect to be able to add more. |
- The National
Center for Fathering has some
excellent general resources and resources
specifically for adoptive
fathers.
The mission of the National Center
for Fathering is to improve the well-being
of children by inspiring and equipping
men to be more effectively involved
in the lives of children. In response
to a dramatic trend towards fatherlessness
in America, the Center was founded
in 1990 by Dr. Ken Canfield to conduct
research on fathers and fathering,
and to develop practical resources
to prepare dads for nearly every
fathering situation.
|
- Although they have no specific infromation relating to adoption, Dads
and Daughters.org has a great many articles for Fathers with daughters covering all ages from newborn adult.
|
|
|
|
|
In
general, single information for and about
single mothers is targeted at single parents
who give birth, and those made single because
of divorce. There are very few adoption
focused resources. We have listed here,
some of the best resources currently available.
As the Internet and single parent adoption
grows, we expect to be able to add more
resources. |
- In Single-Parent
Adoption, parent Karen Moline
writes about her experiences as a
single parent. While the article
is a few years old,
it still offers honest insight
into one woman's experiences.
