Privacy

We respect and guard your privacy. By using our service, you are trusting us to help you through a difficult time in your life. We will not abuse that trust and have created specific privacy policies that we do not deviate from for any reason.

Possible extra charges for Gold Level members.

Anything you send us for publication on the Internet must be provided in electronic format (Microsoft Word, Word Perfect or plain text), or must be printed from a computer or typewriter.

We will accept handwritten material for publication but will charge an additional $50 to convert it into a format we can use. There is no additional charge to process handwritten material that is not intended for publication.

Written material you want to be published on the internet must be provided to us on plain white paper. If it is not, or if it contains unusual fonts or decorations we will not process it until you provide this material in a format that we can use.

Any photographs you want to be published on the internet must be provided to us either electronically in .jpg format, or you may send actual photos.

If you send us text and photographs combined in one document in order to show us exactly how you would like your letter to appear, please also send the photos and text as separate items. Combined documents are difficult to work with and will be subject to an extra charge of $50.

All material submitted electronically must be in PC compatible format. We are not equipped to process Macintosh formatted data.

We reserve the right to edit "Dear Birthparent" letters if, in our opinion, there is something potentially offensive, or illegal in the content. Your letter may also be edited to make it comply with the standard format used on every client page.

Since Adoption Online is available for access worldwide and adoption laws vary considerably, listings will not be permitted to contain any references to providing financial compensation of any type. (This can protect you from violating specific adoption laws in your area or the location in which the baby is born.) Should submitted listings contain such references, or if we find it necessary to edit your letter, you will be informed of our alterations (unless editing was done only to comply with our standard format).

If you find these modifications to be unacceptable, you may propose your own modifications or choose to cancel your membership. If you cancel, a refund (minus a $75 administrative fee) will be given. To receive a refund, you must cancel within 15 days from the date you were notified of any changes that were made.

As you develop your letter, please keep in mind that all prospective adoptive families work long and hard on their letters. A good, honest and sincere Dear Birthparent letter is difficult to write. You are encouraged to read letters letters written by other families so that you may better understand how to construct your own. However, please do not copy material directly from such letters. If it is discovered that your letter contains material copied from others, it will be removed from Adoption Online immediately. Under these circumstances, you will be offered an opportunity to revise your letter, however, a reinstallation fee of $100 must be paid before your revised listing will be restored.

Refunds

Adoption Online understands that adoption is expensive. Therefore, our services are priced as low as possible, and are extremely cost effective. Once the services and features you purchased have been published on the Internet, refunds are not provided. Compensation in the form of additional online listing time will be given for errors we have made. If you adopt before your listing has expired, partial refunds for unused time are not provided. In most cases, unused time will be credited towards pursuit of your next adoption if you use Adoption Online again or in cases where your adoption does not go to finalization.

If you cancel your listing after we have begun to process your information, but before your page has been placed on the Internet, will will partially refund your payment. We will subtract from your payment a $75 administrative fee, and the costs the bank charges for processing your credit card payment (if you paid by check there is only the $75 fee).

If you have paid by credit card or PayPal, and do not cancel automatically renewing services before the renewal date, a refund will not be provided. Subsequent automatic renewals will, of course, be canceled provided you notify us before the next renewal date.
